A New Year Laugh For Allayouse
For a great laugh about living here, I am pleased to direct you to this link

Before you read about the folks who get credit, take the four minutes or so to watch it. Go ahead. I’ll wait. But come back when you’re done. You’ll want to find out more about these people!
What a delightful piece about living here! It was written some time ago by Christopher J. O’Donnell. He’s actually a local attorney in real life (there’s still hope for “their kind”). In the clip, he plays the part of a resident, new to the area, and co-stars with his wife, Shivaun O’Donnell. Those living here in the 1980’s may remember when she was a disc jockey on WILK-AM (when it was music radio). I’d recognize her sultry voice anywhere. Hey, Frankie Warren was also there at that time, long before he lived at Magic 93. Anyway … (read on for more)
This is a fabulous collection of words and places spoken (and keenly understood) by almost anyone who lived here for any length of time. In fact, while listening, I find myself thinking: “So? What’s wrong with that!?”
I do hope you caught one of the articles about this in our local papers. They wrote about the success of the clip posted on You(se )Tube as performed by the comedy troup “One Laugh At Least” (John Schugard, Shivaun O’Donnell, Chris O’Donnell, Jack Gibbons, Greg Korin and Karen Novick).
Greg Korin both directs and stars in “Heynabonics” as the teacher. This guy is an incredibly talented and funny guy who has been on the stages of all our local theaters. There is never a dull moment with him around and if you have ever caught a performance of “One Laugh At Least”, you’ll see why this guy is just the tops. He’s not a Home-Grown, but he’s a Lifer now (I hope).
About the clip: it was filmed with the help of the Community Film (fil-um) Project of Scranton (Scrat’un )at a Misericordia University classroom. There are 169,235 views of this clip and it’s achieved a four-star rating. If you have the time, go back to the clip and read the comments (225 of them!). The comments are nearly all positive (other than one or two goom-baas) and so many added more of their own NEPA-isms to the mix.
I’ll pass along one more. It’s an oldie but goodie with some cutsy NEPA Speak …. Rock 107 fans will know it, but maybe you didn’t hear it in a while. Below is a link to the “Hayna Family” song … with lyrics!
Enjoy!

p.s. Check out this Wilkes-Barre Trivia Quiz. Don’t know who to give credit to, but it was sent to me by my sister-in-law (love her!) who is living in Reading! Enjoy
